FAREWELL FOR NOW

It is a hard thing to say and even harder to have to do but due to a lack of interest in this blog it has been decided that it will cease posting and challenges.
We feel that the idea for here is great so perhaps a bit of a hiatus may be what is needed, who knows, and then perhaps we can see if interest can again be reignited.
On behalf of the Creative team and myself I would like to thanks everyone who has participated in our past challenges, we appreciate your contribution.
So farewell for now from Mary, Kim and myself, Annette xo

Christmas Carols

Well anyone who knows me knows that Christmas is my time of the year and especially the singing of carols.......particularily really loudly at my workplace.
So the Carol I chose to use is Santa Claus is coming to town. It so suits this Santa pic of my son Shaun, out of all the ones that have been taken this is by far my absolute fav.

I adore the look on his face, so intense and serious, how it is taken without him being on Santas knee and from a side angle.

Used gorgeous Kaisercraft Turtle Dove pp, flowers (blue), rhinestones, sparklets and chippie, Bo Bunny brads, homemade bottle top (image from the Graphic Fairy) Mesh ribbon from Craft Queen and gorgeous gardenia flower from my2angels.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy New Year full of happiness, love and all you could ask for.

Unfortunately this will be my last post for Scrap that Song, I have decided to step down from the CT. I am sure that it will be back bigger and stronger in the New Year and thank everyone who has supported the blog now and hopefully in the future.

Hugs and love

Memories

WOW,

Can you believe that is is nearly the end of November?
Where has 2012 gone?
I swear it feels like I have only just bought Christmas presents and here we are again at that joyous but expensive time of year.
My humble apologies for being such an absent entity of late but I have been snowed under with uni and work and it seems that my children's extracurricular activities list grows every day.

The song that I have picked for one that reminds me of something is one that is humble. There are so many songs to pick from and it really is hard to pinpoint particular songs to everyday moments.

Here is my song - HOME by Chris Daughtry

It really scares me that one day the kids will leave home but I always want them to remember that no matter how far they travel that they can always come home.

 Here is my LO -

I have used some fantastic mixed media techniques that I have acquired by purchasing the subscription to the monthly mixed media kit from Blue Bazaar - it has forced me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new which scares me most of the time.

You have just over a week to get your LO's linked and I would love to see your memories on paper.
For more info please pay a visit to my very neglected blog :)

Till then
Cheers and happy scrapping

Flashback

Well how great is our challenge for this month, a song that reminds you of a place, person or time in your life. This song "Coco Jambo by Mr President" always takes me back to Port Macquarie while I was on holidays in the late 1990's, perfect evening, driving around lost, laughing, magic.

The lyrics "pick me up, put me down, put my feet back on the ground" are just perfect also for this pic of me parasailing.
Used some gorgeous Twiddleybits chippies, embellies from my2angels, chippy beachhut from thechipchopshop, netting, lace from miss kim, washi tape from Craft Queen.

So what is your song that transports you can't wait to see.
Hugs and love Annette x

That is a awesome layout Miss Annette

For my take on this challenge I have chosen a Eagles Song "Take it to the Limit" . The Eagles always bring back good memories of my younger days, driving around belting out the songs "very badly" , but loving life and having a blast. The Eagles is also one of my hubbies favourite bands , so this is a picture of us at a fancy dress party ( I went as a gyprocker) I have added the lyrics and a ticket from one of the Eagles Concerts we went to in the Amy Tangerine pocket behind the photo

so what song bring back a memory for you or reminds you of a person/place/time in your life ? We would love you to share it with us

I'm spinning around

Our challenge for November is to scrap a song that reminds you of something.
Always amazing how music can evoke a memory whether it is sentimental, romantic, funny or just a place or time in your life.Do you have a song that does that?Do you have a "theme" song for yourself? Is there a song that drives you crazy?(personally I hate Jolene by Dolly Parton as people always think that's my name).

Kylie's song always makes me think of the teacups ride at Disneyland. My father went there in 1959 and kept raving about it so I took my daughter, aged 11 in 1997.We had a wonderful time turning the centre wheel in the teacups and making ourselves dizzy. As this song came out around the same time I always think of it.

The teacup paper and co-ordinating papers from American Crafts was ideal for this layout as was the Twiddlybits mini filigrees. The photo is taken in 1959 from one of Dad's slides.
Have fun recalling a song that reminds you of a special time! Julene

It's definately a long way to the top

Let's climb to the top of Mount Kosciuszko, yeah sounds great, until you realise how high it is and how long it takes. We walked for 2km and still had another 4km to go, no thanks.

Used a bit of everything on this page, Bo Bunny, Kaiser, Graphic 45, Rebekkah Erickson, Collections Butterflies and lots of distressing, inking and stamping.

So what is your long way to the top moment, would love you to share, hugs and love Annette x

It's a long way to the top

October's theme song is AC/DC's song "It's a long way to the top"
You can interpret this many different ways, but it reminded me of our climb in the Eiffel Tower. We thought it would never end! When you reach the observation deck and look down, there is an overwhelming urge to jump,or is it just called vertigo? On my layout I've used the title with arrows to demonstrate the climb up.
Hope to see your inspirational layouts soon. Have fun!!! Julene

Wow great take Julene,
My layout is also a travel page. This statue was in a beautiful village in France and you could walk up inside the statue , up a VERY narrow, steep staircase. Under the statue's arm was a little window and the view was amazing.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's spin on this  month's challenge

Cheers

What does WINTER mean?

Hi Peeps,

I have been extremely busy at the moment and haven't had a chance to get a page completed for this great challenge so I thought I would get you all thinking.........

What does winter mean to you?

For Miss Annette, Mrs B and Super Mum Kim in Orange I know winter is freezing for them and it snows

For me up here in supposed sunny QLD we get frosts and horrendous chilling winds. I found some information on trusty ole google about weather in Toowoomba

Toowoomba has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters and it enjoys four distinct seasons.Compared to most of Queensland, the town is cooler, mainly because of its high elevation.
Daily maximum temperatures in Toowoomba average 27 °C (81 °F) in summer and 16 °C (61 °F) in winter.According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the highest temperature ever recorded in Toowoomba was 39.3 °C (102.7 °F), while the lowest was −4.4 °C (24.1 °F). Winter temperatures seldom go below freezing; however in a situation unique among Queensland cities, snow has been reported on the higher parts of the city on rare occasions. Light frost will be experienced several nights each winter in the city centre, more often in the western suburbs.

Looks beautiful but let me tell you - you don't want to step outside - the locals have not named the town "POOWOOMBA" for no reason.
And as for Julene - well sadly enough I have no idea where she lives or what it is like in winter ( That makes me a bad friend hey?)
So where do you live? And what does winter mean to you?
All I can say is " Thank heaven's for spring:)"

Singing in the Rain

Miss Annette's challenge this month was to do a layout with the word rain or cold in it. I struggled with this for awhile as the only songs I could think of were all quite dramatic, like November Rain. Anyway I finally decided on Singing in the Rain, and I hope the music clip puts a smile on your face, I don't think you could watch it and not feel happy :)

and this is my layout

Hope to see a few of you join in this month
Happy days

Hazy Shade of Winter

Well here we are the second day of Spring, how awesome and beautiful it has been, would be nice if the Hazy days of Winter were behind us. Here at Scrap that Song I set the Challenge to scrap a page incorporating the words "Winter" or "Cold" they could be in the lyrics or the song title. I have managed to do both by using the song Hazy Shade of Winter by Simon and Garfunkel as well as the lyrics "there's a patch of snow on the ground"

We got quite excited a few times this winter thinking that we would have some good falls of snow but unfortunately this is the best we got here in Orange town.

How will you use the words? Would love to see, come play, till then.
Hugs and love

Winter song

 Hi everyone, it is Julene.
Our challenge for September is for a song containing the word WINTER or COLD.

I've chosen a Beatles song "Here comes the sun" and the line, "Its been a long and lonely winter".
Here is my layout featuring a record snowfall when we lived at Goulburn NSW. I took the toboggan to school and the children in my class played on it for hours.I've kept a winter colour scheme on my layout too.

Movin On Up

Hi Peeps,

So free choice for this month............it was so hard to pick a song when there are so many great ones out there.

I eventually went back a few (maybe more) years back to my teenage years and picked the song "Movin on up" by MPeople

I used a pic of my DD with her teacher in Grade 2 - she didnt want to leave and goto Grade 3 cause she loved her teacher so much and I remember saying to her 'Honey we all had to leave and move up to the next grade, I am sure you will get another nice teacher' - cute isnt it?

Here is my LO:-

Where do you go to?

Well free choice for this month...wow...does put a wee bit of pressure on, so many pics, so many songs, ooh what to chose? Sooo I decided that I wanted to scrap this pic of my gorgeous friend Kim, which was taken in Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane on the June long weekend (this year). We were there for, as all you scrappy peeps would know, the Scrapbooking Expo. I really love how this pic can say so much without even seeing her face and I wondered, at the moment of snapping the pic, what are you thinking, or are you just soaking up the beautiful ambience of where we were.

It seemed the most logical choice for this page was the following song, particularily the lines "Tell me the thoughts that surround you, I want to look inside your head".

Where do you go to my lovely - Peter Sarstedt.

So where do YOU go to my lovelies? Would love for you to show us.
Hugs and love Annette xo

HI LADIES ANOTHER MONTH HAS FLOWN BY

Hard to believe we are nearly half way through the year !
This month at Scrap That Song it is free choice, So what ever song is inspiring you at the moment, or if there is a layout you are thinking about that relates to the words of a song for you, go right ahead and show us what you create.
I scrapped this photo of my Mum originally for the masters, but I have decided against entering , so I will use it for my layout for August . When I was scrapping this I was trying to think of a title for my layout. At the time I was listening to a Joan Baez vinyl and the song "Winds of the old days" came on and I had my title.

Thanks for looking, You can see close ups on my blog http://www.mbennetts.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/the-winds-of-old-days.html The other girls will have their layouts up shortly to inspire you Happy Scrapping Mary x

Hi ladies, Here's my entry for this months free choice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASdtd4QdlgE and the layout to go with it is here.
Tommy Leonetti was very popular in the late 1960s when I was in my teens.Even though this song may seem obscure to some,it holds a precious memory for me....you see I live in Sydney and the words are evocative to me.
Have fun completing a layout this month on Scrapthatsong. Julene

A Little Ray of Sunshine

The song I have chosen for this months Challenge is "A Little Ray of Sunshine" by Axiom. While not an ear bleeding, scream your lungs out type of rock song it is still classed as rock.

It is a song that is just perfect for this pic of my younger sister Katy, from my Dads second marriage, to become a father again at 45 bought him so much joy.

So how will you interpret our Challenge this month? Will you go for Hard Rock, Heavy Rock or Soft Rock? Can't wait to see. Hugs and love Annette xo

Back In Black

Hi Peeps,

ROCK can be classified in so many ways and what you determine as ROCK can be different to what someone else thinks it is. That what makes this month's theme so versatile.
I have chosen the aussie icons ACDC.
I went to their Black Ice concert in Sydney in 2010 and it was amazing - they are just legends.

AWESOME................

And here is my layout

For close ups you can visit my blog http://bblowe.blogspot.com

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with.

ROK on.........

All around the World

Hi Mary here with my layout for the Rock Song Theme. I have chosen "All around the World " by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Rock songs to me mean high energy, mad guitar playing, and this band definitely covers that. Sorry about the swear word in it ... that's rock bands for you ! I have chosen the words from the song about travelling around the world in their prime, as the photo is of my son when he was living overseas and travelling. We were lucky enough to spend two months overseas and Christopher met us and had four days in Rome with us, this photo is of that time.

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers Live at Slane Castle Ireland. I sure would love to see a concert here

Look forward to seeing the layouts of your fave rock song
