Halloween .....2011 (")

Happy Halloween to those who take part in this mostly American tradition

.

For our family it is a very special day.... Happy Birthday Mason!!!
back on this day in 1996 we welcomed our 3rd son, Mason Scott Ewins into the world.
I hear you ask what does music have to do with this????    Well it's a very special story to me and I shall tell you about it...
In May 1994 I lost my beautiful mother to cancer. During her life she had been quite an avid John Farnham fan...I recall road trips with her singing with much passion...
Your the Voice was one of her fav's

Fast forward to 1996.....7 days overdue....doctor tells me at appointment to meet her at hospital the following morning for induction...was a little worried due to many horror stories I had heard about inductions...
But without a doubt the best labour I would ever have...with my others I had gone at least 12 hours in labour...
within 3 hours we were almost there. Roy and a wonderful midwife (Teresa) by my side....The local radio station was playing softly, to make everyone feel alittle bit more at ease. Final stage Teresa said to me as the contraction eased a little another good push and baby will be born.
As he came into the world  Your the Voice  played on the radio...Mum was with me!!!....She gave me a special sign and the other special thing  the 31st October   was also her birthday.
You know I still miss her very much...how different my life and my children's lives would have been...sigh! But I know she is with me in spirit...(love U Mum)
So have you ever had something similar happen to you?

Before I go a little sneaky peek of my layout for tomorrow......

O.K beautiful scrappy pals....until tomorrow

Anyway it got me thinking how music can unite the world , watch this amazing clip

Isnt that fabulous, makes my heart smile

And then it can change a persons life,

Can just touch your soul

that clip made me cry& gives me goosebumps every single time I watch it, see Music is such a powerful, beautiful thing. I hope these clips have touched your heart in some way today. Thats why I love to use words , titles or convey a feeling in my layouts by music. I just find I need to have music playing while I scrap to put me in the creative moment. Music simply makes the world a better place to be in and thats gotta be a good thing,  So wishing you all Music in your soul

Don't you just love it .......

....when you get a song stuck in your head for days???

Well sometimes yep, other times it's just plain annoying!

I have had this song by Maroon 5 in my head for the last 3 or 4 days! Great song but geez brain I think it's time to change the record please!

I pretty much always have a song running around in my head. Sometimes it's a whole song, other times it might just be a few note of a tune or a line or two form a song. It's really annoying when I can't place the song though!

I can clearly remember when Eli was little I had a couple of weeks when every time I'd be up at about 3am breastfeeding Eli I'd have the Thomas The Tank Engine theme tune in my head! For two weeks!!!!

What songs do you get stuck in your head???

Take Care

Where do you go to????

It is amazing how songs/music can have the ability, in an instance, to transport us to a time in our past, that we have completely forgotten about.
When checking out some music on Youtube I stumbled across this song "Coco Jambo" by Mr President http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bY-oMCmrvPM  and remembered a great moment from a holiday to Port Macquarie with an ex. We were driving back to our motel and came to a roundabout and I turned the wrong way, we ended up driving through an industrial area, it was late at night, dark, we had the windows down, I could smell the salt in the air, the car was a Mitsubishi Mirage, we had had a fantastic day and this was the song on the radio, which I was singing out loud. It was such a great holiday in one of my fav towns and I just love that something like a song can make me remember so much.
So where do you go to when you hear a certain song? Do some of the choices in our October Challenge take you out of yourself? We would love to know. Cheers Annette x

A technique to use up scraps.

I was machining yesterday when I came up with the idea of using up my small strips of paper and card.I save them all!
In a random order I sewed them to white cardstock, following a colour theme. In this case it was purple but you could use random brights. Then I tore each side of the strips to create the effect.
I matted a photo on cream so it would stand out and chose black for the title."Torn" came to mind...the song by Natalie Imbruglia  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV1XWJN3nJo
The photo was taken at Broken Hill airport when I was saying farewell to the Purplescraps girls at the end of a recent retreat. So in a way I was torn away from there.Total cost of this layout was 10c  for the photo! Try it you'll like it..Happy scrapping from .Julene aka Joolz

First....memory of a song?

   Happy Monday!!!
Scrappy Friends, (Kimbo here).....So I was thinking last night about what to type today and about music/songs and I thought what was the first POPULAR music I really wanted to listen too?

The cogs started turning, (they are pretty rusty...you know...lol)....back - back - back in time I went and then it came to me....Can you guess???
I recall lending some vinyl records from my mum's B/F so I could listen to them on our portable record player.....and it was ABBA!
 http://youtu.be/xFrGuyw1V8s

Dancing Queen was played like a million times in the space of a day or so.....sigh!
In a moment I was transported way back in time to when I was....like 8 years old.
A year or so later I remember being so-so-in love with the Village People (You Can't Stop The Music)...I was so going to marry The Cowboy...hehehe!
(Little did my best friend, Wanda and I know....sigh.... I was so crushed).
Love how music takes you back in time to a moment.

Can you recall what song it was for you or what record/cd you first bought...???
Let us know what it was.

Also please have a look at our D/T October Song List they are pretty darn Coolio.

Thanks for stopping by and call back real soon.
Cheers and happy scrapping

Where do get our song inspiration from ?

Where do we get our inspiration from ? SONGS OF COURSE !

OK, so when looking for inspiration for the challenges we set you, we look at a wide range of factors..

1) A theme.. or is it free choice?

2) Current songs - cause theyre playing on the radio at the moment

3) A list that appeals to everyone - can you relate to one song?

4) Doing a layout from the song.. what if it doesnt fit?

Well all these are major factors when setting our challenges.
