A little nonsense at Christmas

Christmas is one of the only times of the year when a little nonsense is common. Whether it is reading the dumb jokes in the bonbons or wearing reindeer antlers,or dressing your car up as a reindeer or singing silly songs ,it is all permitted with good grace.
Memories come flooding back to a time when money was found in the pudding. My father always pulled a pound note from his hand and pretended he'd found it in the pudding. We laughed every year!My daughter always wanted to play the song of "All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth" and whistle at the S's.When I was teaching my classes always liked doing the booms in "6 white boomers" or make up other words to well known carols.Play some music this Christmas and enjoy the silly side of things.
Have yourself a little nonsense at Christmas, enjoy the fun times. I've made a card for this post featuring a well known Christmassy nonsense song.  Blessings to all of you from Julene.

Love the Lyrics

Morning........

BB here on this horribly cold and windy Summer's day ( Mother Nature has really screwed things up this year). While looking out the window the song 'Cruel Summer' by Bananarama came into my head - yes I know i'm showing my age now but it got me thinking as to how we do relate lyrics to our lives and especially the chorus.

So what is a Lyric?

In ancient Greece, a poem accompanied by a musical instrument, usually a lyre. Although the word is still often used to refer to the songlike quality in poetry, it is more generally used to refer to any short poem that expresses a personal emotion, be it a sonnet, ode, song, or elegy.

So there we go.........a personal emotion - how true is that?
I have a page that expresses how I feel about myself (maybe only on 364 out of 365 days of the year)

The song is 'Don't Wanna Be' by Gavin McGraw
My LO design is inspired by my good mate Leanne Jago

Here are the lyrics that I have used for my journalling?

So what Lyric describes you?
How does it define you?
I'd love to get to know YOU and how YOU feel about YOU

Party Anthems

My brother and his fiance had their house warming the other week. Was a great night, got to meet my BIL's family, see my other brother for the first time in months {he's in the navy based in Cairns but was on leave}, and watch some awesome film clips on Max {Fotxtel/Austar}.

There were many of us mingling in the kitchen watching Rock Anthems, so of course a conversation persued over what song was going to be #1. Well of course the young ones were saying thinks like Britney Spears "Ooops I did it again" and Hansens "Mmm Bop". Others were calling for Chisel and AC/DC. But personally when I was a younge party goer there were two main Anthems.

Firstly Don McLeans "American Pie" was always played at stumps {midnight for our small country town}. Once we heard those first few beats we knew it was last drinks.

But the song that really describes our younger party days is definitely The Eagles "Heartache Tonight". The song describes a typical friday or saturday night to a T! Hearts being broken, fights breaking out all part and parcel of a weekend night in a small town.

Of course there were other must have songs like The Violent Femmes "Blister in The Sun" and "Add it Up", anything by Australian Crawl, Guns n Roses or Chisel was a must too.

But no night was complete without hearing American Pie and Heartache Tonight.

What were your Party Anthems???

December Song Challenge 2011 * Merry Christmas*

Well December is upon us yet again and all of us here at STS would like to wish all of you a
VERY
and a BIG
for all of your support throughout this year.

So we all thought that it would be an idea to base December's song challenge on CHRISTMAS...
The girls have come up with some great songs to inspire you

First up we have BB.......who has chosen the all time classic "OH CHRISTMAS TREE"

Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year to you ALL from ME
There are a lot of versions of this song that have been made but I have decided to go with the version from the ever so popular TV show "Glee".......

And here is my layout -

I decided to make a christmas tree using doilies, glitter, pearls and glitter glass.
While I was composing the layout I kept singing the song in my head so I thought it fitted the challenge really well and was a good interpretation of the song.
I look forward to seeing everyone's christmas themed layouts and I wish you all the best for the festive season and a prosperous 2012

Sunshine and Happiness Always............BBxx

Next we have
Mary

Hello everyone,
Can't believe it is nearly Xmas again!  I decided to go with a not so traditional song, but one that I love and it's one of those songs I can't get out of my head when I hear it . I chose John Lennons "So this is Xmas"

.

and this is my layout

I would like to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Xmas and a Peaceful, Healthy & Prosperous New Year

Cheers
Mary x

Hello Kim, here
My Christmas song is a true classic

It always reminds me of the building excitement towards Christmas....

It is a truly wonderful time of the year....

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a bigger and brighter New Year....xxxx

Gorgeous work girls. As soon as I think of christmas I think of the big old man that visits us each year. My boys are 3 and 2 this year and a really starting to get into the christmas spirit now.
So of course I had to choose 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'. Like many christmas songs and carols there are numerous versions but I had to choose this version by one of my faves, the scrummy Michael Buble.

and here is my take:

I chose a photo of Brian with Ethan at his first christmas pageant waiting to catch a glimps of Father Christmas.

Wishing you all a glorious Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year

Hi all and here is my song for the December/Christmas Challenge. One of my fav carols has always been "Deck the Halls"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s3QigQz_Ww&feature=related

I always sing it when I am putting up the Xmas lights, but the verse that I have chosen to use on my page, "Is don ye now our gay apparel" as it so suits this beautiful pic of my great neice Lailah all dressed up to visit with Santa.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, a fantastic New Year and thankyou for your support and so looking forward to seeing you in 2012.
Hugs and love
Annette xo

Julene here,
My choice of song for Christmas is "We need a little Christmas": from the movie "Mame". it always reminds me of watching the carols on Tv on CHristmas Eve as they often sing this song.
 Here's the link  http://www.links2love.com/lyrics-we-need-a-little-christmas.htm
and here's the words

Haul out the holly,
Put up the tree before
My spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking,
I may be rushing things,
But deck the halls again now.

For we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet,
Yes, we need a little Christmas,
Right this very minute,
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry.

Climb down the chimney,
Turn on the brightest string
Of lights I've ever seen,
Slice up the fruitcake,
It's time we hung some tinsel
On the evergreen bough.

For I've grown a little leaner,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder,
Need a little Christmas now.

For we need a little music,
Need a little laughter,
Need a little singing,
Ringing through the rafter,
And we need a little snappy
Happy ever after,
Need a little Christmas now.

My layout echoes the theme even though the words don't exactly match those in the song...
Finally, Fondest Christmas wishes to all of you and may the blessings of Christmas be with you.Have a wonderful new Year and we hope to see you again next year for more challenges.

Rebekkah here..

For my song choice i chose an artist i adore and one of my favourite songs of hers...
